The Mongolian Spot

On demand on OPB

Piergiorgio Casotti’s documentary, co-written and co-directed by Massimo Zamboni, officially is added to the OpenDDB catalog (Distribuzioni dal Basso).

In 1996, Massimo Zamboni, musician and founder of the bands CCCP and CSI, embarked on a journey to Mongolia that would prove pivotal to his artistic career and lead to CSI’s most successful album, “Tabula Rasa Elettrificata.”

But that journey would prove equally pivotal on a human and personal level: it was in Mongolia that Zamboni and his partner Daniela would also decide to become parents.

Twenty years later, at the request of his daughter Caterina, born shortly after that trip, he would undertake the same journey again with her and his wife, from Emilia and via the Trans-Siberian Railway.

For Massimo, it would be a return, a moment of intimate reunion, a confrontation with the past; for his daughter, it would be the beginning of everything. A generational legacy and an initiation to another journey, through life.
